Drug abuse interferes with emotional and psychological judgments of an individual making these individuals to be at risk of being deviants and engage in anti-social behaviors. Contemporarily majority of youths and adolescents have dropped outof schoolbecause of drug addiction. Socially, drug addiction has affected the functionality of the social institutions such as marriages leading to increased marriages (Castillo 67).

Despite the diverse effects that drug abuse and subsequent addition has on individuals, no single factor has been ruled as the motivating factor behind engagement indrug abuse. Various psychological, social, emotional, mental and biological factors may operate by independently or collaboratively to influence an individual in to drug abuse and subsequent addiction (Castillo 74).
